My New Camera and the February Tease

Danford gave me a new camera for Valentine's Day. I can't decide whether to be mad at him for spending the money or happy because I really wanted it. My old camera is still pretty impressive, but it is old. A lot can change in digital cameras in seven years and I was still using a lens that was made for a film camera. I can already tell a difference, especially with indoor pictures. My new goal is to learn how to take great pictures with it. That photography class is still on my list of things to do!

I had a good opportunity for some practice last weekend while the weather was beautiful. Evey February we get at least a week of beautiful warm weather. It is a tease to get us ready for Spring, and then it goes right back to being winter and wet. This year we have had some beautiful weather on and off all month long. It was a particularly beautiful weekend last week and the girls dragged me over to the playground behind our house. Hannah has been anxious to show me her monkey bar skills. They were indeed impressive and she now has the blisters to prove it.

They had fun soaking in the sun and I got some good opportunities to play with my new toy.

  1. I used to call it February thaw. It'd warm up for a week or two, warm enough that I (crazy girl that I was) could shiver in my swimsuit in a sunny place protected by the wind (probably all of 42ยบ F or something) and try to get an early spring tan. I always looked forward to February thaw.

Now I don't want it to thaw out until it is serious and will for real keep being springtime!
